Sarah Petrarca is a super talented Rhode Island photographer, based out of Little Compton. Her brings a fresh perspective to the trade, currently working with companies such a Narraganset Beer, Marine Affair surfing magazine, and newly launched 1927 Beauty.
When I was looking to refresh headshots of my own, Sarah obliged, and I got to snap a few of her in return.
I have recently met Meg, floral designer and business owner of Rockfarm Gardens. After spending time shooting her gorgeous terrariums and lush ecosystems contained within a recycled glass vessels, we switched our focus to mom and son Leo. I spent an hour with Meg and babe, following along in their daily mid-morning routine.
Jumping on the couch, playing and displaying his toys, and trying to school mom in the art of fishing were just a few of the highlights during out time together. It just goes to show that you don’t have to “do” much during a “day in the life photo session.” An ordinary day has so many little moments worth remembering. The way your littlest clings to your leg, carries a baby doll in each hand, or lays their head on your chest. This won’t last forever. Checking under the bed for monsters will soon be a thing of the past, so let’s document these moments before they are gone.
It had been a few months since I had last visited with Alana, Joe, and their two girls. Last I had seen them, baby T was just a few months old. Now, I had the privilege to hang with the family and see how things had changed during this family documentary photo session.
Over the span of 4-hours, I followed along through breakfast, a ballet class, and snack time to capture this beautiful family’s day-to-day routine.

When Realtor, LeAnne West was looking for new headshots to compliment her growing real estate business, we chose Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth, RI. This shallow, natural beach is located on the Sakonnet River at the end of Sandy Point Avenue and is great for families. Set during my favorite time of day…sunset.
